Border Patrol Agents Arrest Man With Attempted Murder Charge

DEL RIO, TX — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Border Patrol Station arrested a Mexican national who has an active warrant for attempted murder.

On July 25, Border Patrol agents tracked footprints leading away from the Rio Grande River and encountered a male subject, hiding in the brush. During processing, agents learned that the Mexican national, 33, had a full-extradition warrant for attempted homicide in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

“Border Patrol agents routinely encounter dangerous fugitives while on duty securing our borders,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “This arrest is one of many ways the Border Patrol collaborates with our law enforcement partners to return fugitives to justice and help keep our communities safe.”

Criminal and immigration checks revealed the subject had been arrested multiple times in the past for state and immigration violations.

The suspect was processed for expedited removal and turned over to the Maverick County Sherriff’s Office for extradition to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity call the Del Rio Sector’s toll free number at 1-866-511-8727.
