COLORADO CITY, TX – The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office seized a large shipment of liquid methamphetamine during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

At 1:30 p.m., a Mitchell County Sheriff’s deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-20, just outside of Colorado City. After the vehicle was stopped, the deputy requested a dog to come search the vehicle.

Sweetwater Police Department responded with K9 Stalin, who assisted with positively identifying drugs in the vehicle.

Law enforcement seized a total of 125 pounds of liquid meth. The original value of drugs was estimated at $10.8 million, however, Sheriff Toombs explained when all the drug contents were sorted, the actual value was estimated to be worth $1.2 million on the street.

David Fernandez Garcia, 26, of Andrews, Texas, was arrested following the traffic stop and charged with a First Degree Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Fernandez was transported to the Mitchell County jail and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
