ABILENE, TX – Jennifer Herod, 36, of Abilene, will be present before the court tomorrow afternoon to ask for a bond reduction. Herod is being charged with tampering evidence in the murder of Meagan Dearman.
Dearman was found at the T&P Lake in Baird in late January. Her boyfriend, Justin Bennett, is currently being charged with murder after strangulating her and dumping her body in the lake.
Herod is identified as Bennett’s second girlfriend, and, according to a local news source, she was involved in transporting the body.
Several pieces of evidence connect Herod to the scene and the crime. Her cell phone records indicated that both she and Bennett were together when the body was disposed of at the lake. Additionally, the victim’s blood was found in Herod’s 2005 Buick Rendezvous. Her bond is currently set at $100,000.
Justin Bennett's bond was set at $200,000.
