SAN ANGELO, TX- From the morning of Feb. 2 through Friday morning, Feb. 3, local law enforcement arrested 29 people in Tom Green County. One of the more interesting arrests was that of Tommy Gutierrez, 34, who led DPS Troopers on a chase involving a stolen vehicle.
The joint pursuit began Thursday morning after Gutierrez stole a parked vehicle from the Angry Cactus, 1 West Concho Ave., and fled from troopers in a vehicle and foot pursuit.
"Police investigated a hit and run committed by Gutierrez when he crashed into handicap signs while fleeing the Troopers," SAPD said.
They issued Gutierrez citations for not having a driver’s license, failure to control speed, and failure to stop and leave information upon striking a fixture in addition to his charges of unlawful use of a vehicle and evading arrest detention with a vehicle by DPS Troopers.
Overall, out of the 29 arrests, 11 were booked for new crimes, 13 on outstanding warrants, and five for both.
The crimes to make the new complaint list include the following:

- Border Patrol: 1
- Possession of Marijuana: 3
- Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence: 2
- Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle: 1
- Evading Arrest Detention: 1
- No Signal Intent 100ft of Turn: 1
- Possession of Controlled Substance: 4
- Fail to Identify Fugitive From Justice: 2
- Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon: 1
- Assault Class C Family Violence: 1
- Pedestrian Ross Roadway Not at Crosswalk: 1
- Criminal Trespass: 2
- DWI: 1
The SAPD also gave information on narcotics arrests from Jan. 22 to Jan. 31. All of the following had possession of meth with additional charges included in the arrest:
Jan. 30, 2017
- Modesto Cortex, 25, also charged with assault causing bodily harm and for failing to identify intent for giving false information. He has previously been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, according to jail records.
- Felix Jeremiah, 36, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and for possession of marijuana. His bond is set at $10,000 for the firearm charge and an additional $10,000 for the controlled substance charge, according to jail records. This is his 11th arrest in Tom Green County; his first four were for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Jan. 31, 2017
- Raymundo Gavirio Jr., 47, failed to identify a fugitive intent for giving false information. He has been previously charged for having one gram of a controlled substance, according to jail records.
- Evaristo Palacio had possession of marijuana and was charged with delivering drug paraphernalia.
