Texas DPS Apprehend A Top Ten Most Wanted Sex Offender

AUSTIN, TX- Jose Julio Arce Jr., 56, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being arrested last week in Kirby, Texas.

Arce was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. The arrest was not the result of a tip, and no reward will be paid.

Working off investigative information, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Agent and a Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy located Arce at a residence in Kirby, and he was arrested without incident. In 1999, Arce was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Bexar County and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He had been wanted since July 2016. For more information, see his captured bulletin at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/SexOffenderDetails.aspx?id=350.

Arce’s apprehension marks the first Texas 10 Most Wanted program arrest in 2017. Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders.

The DPS makes it known that all tips are anonymous regardless of how they are submitted. Tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. The current lists – with photos – can be found on the DPS website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/.

The Texas DPS says never to attempt apprehending these fugitives, for they are considered armed and dangerous.
