Abilene Police Department Arrests Woman for Forging Government Documents

 

ABILENE, TX- Yesterday morning, Jan. 17, Officers from the Abilene Police Department (APD) Fraud Unit and the Crimes Against Property Unit executed a search warrant for a home located on the 5200 block of Questa Dr. for forged documents.

During the execution, forged Social Security Administration income verification paperwork was found that was used to obtain payday loans in various names.

“Betty Carol Burleson, 48, was arrested for violation of Texas Penal Code 32.21 Forgery of a Government Document, a third-Degree Felony,” a press release from APD stated. “She is being held at the Taylor County Jail on a $15,000 bond.”

The victims and payday loan locations are still being identified by the APD.

The press release noted that any businesses victimized by this fraud are encouraged to contact Detective Gabe Thompson with the APD Fraud Unit at (325)676-6616.

The APD is still investigating persons involved in the manufacturing of these forged Social Security Income documents.
