Report Shows Driver Who Struck ACU Student Intoxicated

 

ABILENE, TX –  This past November, Abilene Christian University student, Casey Ellis, 21, died after a driver struck her bicycle late at night. Ellis had failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of Ambler Avenue and Judge Ely Boulevard.

According to a local news source, the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The news source reported the updated accident report listed the alcohol level of the driver at 0.13.

The driver has yet to be charged, and no further information is available. Officials did note that Ellis wore a helmet at the time of the impact, but was later pronounced dead at an Abilene hospital.
