ODESSA, TX – Last night, a shooting occurred in the 1300 Block of 36th Street in Odessa at approximately 1:30 a.m. According to a local news source in the area, the incident left one woman dead and Odessa PD arrested a suspect.
The suspect, Phillip Alvin Rodriguez, 48, was charged with murdering his wife Phillis Rodriguez, 44. The victim is said to have received multiple gunshot wounds and officials declared her deceased at the scene, said the news report.
Rodriguez fled the scene in a black Suburban, but officers located him in the 1400 block of Nabors Lane.
He was arrested for murder and transported to the Odessa Police Department.

According another news source an affidavit was released that detailed the situation that occurred moments before the murder.
The news source reported that Phillis was delivering food to a family member at a home on 36th Street. An argument than began between Phillis and Philip outside the home. A witness states that the suspect took the victims phone, credit cards and cash and then left the scene.
A while later the witness heard honking outside and saw Phillip exit a vehicle and walk up to Phillis’s vehicle and began shooting. The victim was shot in the head. According to the witness they tried to help Phillis into a car and transport her to the hospital but went back inside after the shots continued.
Police reports state that bullet cases were found on the pavement and bullet holes in a 2017 GMC pickup truck. The couple was reportedly estranged at the moment of the murder.
