AUSTIN, TX – The reward for Johnny June Mason Jr, 48, has been increased to $3,000. The Department of Public Safety is asking for information that would lead to his arrest.
He is 5’ 8” and approximately 150 lbs. Identifying markers include a tattoo on his left forearm, scars on his forehead and both hands. He has several aliases such as Johnny June Mason, Johnny Mason, Mason Johnny, Ninja.
Mason was convicted of Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Crime Against Nature in 1990 in Louisiana after an incident involving a 16-year-old girl. Mason was convicted to 20 years in prison.
A parole warrant was issued against Mason on June 2, 2016, and the 179th District Court in Harris County issued a warrant for Mason's arrest for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender on October 17, 2016.
Mason is considered armed and dangerous, and DPS reminds citizens to avoid engaging him; instead, contact authorities.
Mason's last known address is in Houston, and he has known ties to Louisiana.
All tips are anonymous, regardless of how they are submitted, and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the five following methods:
- Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
- Text the letters “DPS” – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
- Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
- Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10most… by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
- Submit a tip through the DPS Mobile App. The app is currently available for iPhone users on the Apple App Store.
