BIG SPRING, TX- On Christmas day, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Big Spring Police Department (BSPD) dispatched officers to 11th St. and Birdwell in reference to a stabbing.
The press release from the BSPD said, “After searching the area, officers located Armando Avina, [a] Hispanic/Male 34 years of age, at the intersection of 11th and Knowles.”
After finding Avina, officers saw that he had been stabbed multiple times in the back.
“Big Spring Emergency Medical Services responded and transported Avina to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment. Avina has since been transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where he is listed in stable condition,” the press release added.
Also, around the same time of the stabbing, officers were dispatched to 1402 Wood in reference to suspicious activity. The press release said the subject had entered a vehicle at 1402 Wood and was caught by the residents, but the subject ran away.
