Former Boys & Girls Club Worker Sentenced to 99 Years for Sexual Abuse of Four Children

LUBBOCK, TX - An ex-worker at the Boys & Girls Club has been sentenced to 99 years in prison, with no chance of parole, for the sexual abuse of four children.

Earlier this month, 29-year-old Charles Chavez was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Yesterday, a judge handed down Chavez's sentence.

KTXS reported that prosecutors in the case said Chavez molested the children, including three brothers, between May and September 2014.

During the trial, four boys testified that they were abused by Chavez after meeting him when he was the Game Room director for the Boys & Girls Club in Lubbock.

KTXS said, “Records show some of the boys stayed with Chavez, who was a Child Protective Services-approved caregiver for the brothers.”

Chavez did testify during the trial, and claimed the boys lied about being molested.
