Aleksey Trapeznikov, 44, was arrested after being stopped for a traffic violation, which resulted in the discovery of 5.49 grams of Fentanyl after a search was completed.

Fentanyl is used as a pain reliever for patients with severe pain, or who are dealing with post-surgery pain management. It’s similar to morphine, but much more potent, and is considered dangerous if consumed in other ways than prescribed.

Trapenikov was then charged with First Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and his bonds total $96,000. Because of his nationality, the Russian Consulate in Houston was informed of the arrest and were sent the required documents. This could mean Trapenikov could face deportation due to the arrest and other considerations.
