Friday, San Angelo Police Went Trolling for Drug Dealers

SAN ANGELO, TX — Sheriff David Jones said the influx of illegal drugs into the San Angelo community was a growing problem, echoing a chorus of warnings from law enforcement officials in the county. Yesterday, Jones’ partners in fighting street crime, the San Angelo Police Department, took down two known drug dealers and added a suspected third.

Sgt. Travis Griffith, spokesman for the SAPD, said the SAPD Street Crimes Division executed two search warrants for narcotics.

Using a probable cause warrant, SAPD detectives found two suspects at 3611 High Meadow Dr. During a search of the residence, detectives found eight ounces of cocaine, 85 ecstasy pills, cash, and two firearms.

Maise Baranowski, 27, and Joshua Green, 25, were arrested. The duo was charged with manufacture or delivery of 4-200 grams of a controlled substance (penalty group 1 for cocaine), and dealing 4-200 grams of ecstasy pills (penalty group 2). Green had or was near the firearms and was a felon. He was charged for possessing them.

In 2012, Green was accused of being engaged in organized criminal activity in connection with dealing over 400 grams of cocaine. According to court records, Green got a plea bargain, was given deferred adjudication and placed on probation. But shortly thereafter, his probation was revoked and the 391st District Court replaced regular probation with its “Intensive Supervision Program” that included 60 days confined in the Tom Green County Jail.

Baranowski is currently held in lieu of a $60,000 bond. She has no previous record in Tom Green County. Green was released Saturday morning after posting $70,000 in bonds.

Later Friday, the hunt for San Angelo drug dealers led the police to 1719 N. Magdalen St. There, detectives found 30 grams of heroin, seven grams of meth, and a large collection of narcotics packaging supplies, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.  There, Eddie Lopez, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of manufacture or delivery of 4-200 grams of a controlled substance (PG 1).

Lopez plea-bargained for 10 years probation in 2014 for the charge of dealing an identical amount of narcotics as he was accused of Friday. He violated his probation terms in July 2015 and was ordered into the Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility.  In a report to Judge Tom Gossett from the facility in January 2016, five months since entering the facility, Lopez stated, “I have learned a lot of things because of this program and have the tools to stay sober.”

Griffith said the two busts were executed with the aid of the SAPD Patrol Division, K9 Officer Flores and his Police Service Animal, K9 Duke.
