Eagle Pass CBP Officers Seize Over $4 Million Worth of Meth

 

EAGLE PASS, TX - Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized nearly 200 pounds of hard narcotics in two separate incidents at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

According to a CBP press release, on Nov. 10, officers at the Eagle Pass International Bridge inspected a 2014 Nissan Altima driven by a Mexican citizen as it arrived into the country. 

"Officers utilized a non-intrusive imaging system for inspection and a CBP canine," said the press release. "CBP officers retrieved alleged liquid methamphetamine inside 96 bottles within the trunk of the vehicle. Officers seized a total of 181.66 pounds of alleged liquid methamphetamine with an estimated street value of approximately $3,650,000."

The next incident took place on Nov. 12. Officers at Camino Real International Bridge inspected a 2006 Volkswagen Bora also driven by a Mexican citizen. Using the same approach, CBP officers retrieved four packages of alleged crystal methamphetamine from within the rocker panels of the vehicle.

"Officers seized a total of 10.3 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $454,147," said the press release.

The Mexican nationals arrested for these crimes were a 49-year-old man from Frontera, Coahuila, Mexico and a 30-year-old man from Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. The two men were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigations.
