Abilene Police Arrest Two Suspects After Shooting

ABILENE, TX - An altercation Saturday night at a south Abilene apartment complex resulted in a 19-year-old male sustaining several gunshot wounds.

Abilene Police said the 19-year-old victim was outside of an apartment located in the 2800 block of S. 25th St. when the altercation escalated. Gunshots were fired between at least two subjects, and the male victim was hit multiple times. He was transported to Abilene Regional Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment of his injuries.

"Police arrived on the scene at 11 p.m. after receiving numerous calls of gunshots from residents in and around the apartment complex," said Abilene Police. "The call was dispatched as an Injured Subject."

Police noted that, after securing the scene and a preliminary investigation, Kimberly Owens, 20, and Emmanuel Mims, 19, were arrested for State Jail Theft of a Firearm and Class A Possession of Marijuana. Owens and Mims lived at the apartment where the shooting occurred.

"Detectives located over $10,000 in cash, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia and a stolen firearm in the apartment rented by Owens and Mims," said Abilene Police. "Witnesses are being uncooperative with the investigation. No one has been charged in the shooting, and the investigation continues."
