3rd Arrest Made from Front Yard Brawl Near Grape Creek

Tom Green County Sheriff David Jones confirmed the arrest of a third suspect from early Sunday morning’s front yard brawl near Grape Creek.

According to Jones, Tommy McCutchen, 27, of San Angelo was nabbed by deputies and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and a parole violation. Bond has not been set.

McCutchen was among one of the two groups that converged in a front yard of a residence on Sage Road for a fight just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. One man was stabbed twice and a woman was shot in the chest, the sheriff said previously. The stabbing victim was treated and released from Shannon Medical Center early Sunday morning.

Sheriff Jones was vague on why the two groups met to fight with a gun and knives, but insisted that it didn’t appear to be gang-related.

Jones said more arrests are likely.

The woman suffering from the gunshot wound to the chest remains in Shannon Medical Center in intensive care, the sheriff said.

More information will be forthcoming tomorrow, Jones said.
