Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Previously Deported Sex Offenders

DEL RIO, TX – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass and Carrizo Springs stations recently arrested two convicted sex offenders, who had been previously deported, on separate occasions.

U.S. Border Patrol officials said on Sept. 24, 24-year-old Pedro Gomez-Vidal, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended by Carrizo Springs station agents. During processing, agents discovered that Gomez-Vidal was convicted of felony carnal knowledge of a minor in Prince William County Circuit Court in Virginia in January 2012. Gomez-Vidal was sentenced to five years and removed to Mexico.

On Sept. 28, 63-year-old Hector Edmundo Pinto-Machorro, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala, was apprehended by Eagle Pass station agents near Eagle Pass. During processing, agents discovered that Pinto-Machorro was convicted of indecency with a child/sexual contact in San Antonio in Feburary 2016; he was removed to Guatemala.

Gomez-Vidal and Pinto-Machorro each face a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation - 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

“This is another excellent example of our agents’ expertise and vigilance in preventing dangerous criminals from entering the United States," said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. "We're proud of our agents and the dedication demonstrated daily in support of the Border Patrol’s mission."
