Police Seek Tips on “Quick Change” Scammers Along I-20

ABILENE, TX — The Fraud Unit of the Abilene Police Department wants businesses to be aware of these four suspects. They are “quick change scammers.”

Here’s how this works:

They will use a small bill to pay for goods; then the suspects create a distraction. When the clerk refocuses attention on the transaction at hand, the suspects claim the clerk owes them more money.

These suspects are targeting convenience stores and other businesses. APD believes they are traveling through Abilene and are not actually from the area.

They may be traveling along I-20 hitting other towns/cities along I-20 in west Texas.

If you see them, call the Abilene Police Department's non-emergency number at (325) 673-8331 and ask for the Fraud Unit.
