Alpine Shooter's Goal to Kill Stepbrother and Herself

ALPINE, TX - More details emerged this week on the Alpine active shooter incident that took place last Thursday. Officials said the teenager did not take action as a result of being bullied; instead, she had a personal vendetta against a family member.

According to reports, investigators concluded that the 14-year-old juvenile female freshman student, who shot and wounded another female student before killing herself, actually intended to shoot her 14-year-old stepbrother.

Yesterday, Chief Russell Scown of the Alpine Police Department said the girl's plan was thwarted when a 17-year-old junior walked into the girl's restroom at Alpine High School. Apparently, the shooter aimed her gun at the older girl, who attempted to get away; however, the shooter fired multiple shots, hitting the older teenager in her lower body. Luckily, the wound was non-life-threatening, officials said.

After shooting the girl, the 14-year-old turned the gun on herself.

According to officials, the shooter had moved to Alpine about six months ago.

They also said there were no other students targeted in this incident.
