Since our last update, local law enforcement arrested 34 people and booked them into the Tom Green County jail. One early morning arrestee, Roberto Carlos Avila-Lopez, went to jail after assaulting his girlfriend with a knife.
Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer from the San Angelo Police Department, said officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Vaughn St. for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they learned Lopez and his girlfriend had been in a verbal argument as she was attempting to prevent him from entering the residence.
“At some point, when the door to the residence was partially open, Lopez produced a knife and it scratched the victim’s arm causing a minor injury,” said Gonzalez. “The victim refused medical attention. CID was consulted. The knife was located and seized.”
Out of the 34 arrests, most of those individuals who went to TGCJ had outstanding warrants. Nine people were arrested on new complaints.
Those complaints consisted of the following:
- Possession of Controlled Substance: 2
- Public Intoxication: 1
- Possession of Marijuana: 2
- Criminal Trespass: 1
- Driving While License Invalid: 1
