Big Spring Police Investigate Homicide of 56-Year-Old Woman

 

Today, Big Spring Police are investigating the homicide of a 56-year-old woman found shot at a residence this weekend.

Big Spring Police officials said on Aug. 14, at approximately 8:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to 423 Westover in reference to a gunshot victim. Big Spring Fire Department and EMS also responded and found the victim deceased. The victim has been identified as Sonya Michelle Drake.

Justice of the Peace B. Green arrived on scene and pronounced Drake deceased. An autopsy was scheduled for this morning.

"The Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating this incident as a homicide and are following up on leads," said Big Spring Police. "We will not be providing any additional information to this incident as this investigation is ongoing."
