San Angelo Police are investigating a fight and shooting that took place early this morning on Antonio and Monterrey Streets.
SAPD Sgt. Antoine Callum said at approximately 2:40 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to a fight call. Upon arrival, they learned a fight had occurred in the street.
Apparently, there was an altercation where a handgun was brandished and fired. Luckily, no one was shot.
“There was one shell casing found,” said Callum. “No one was shot.”
Callum said he was unsure if officers recovered the gun.
He also said officers are following up on leads. They have persons of interest at SAPD being interviewed.
“As of right now the investigation is ongoing,” Sgt. Callum explained. “I can say this was an isolated incident between two parties.”
Update 4:20 p.m.
Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said at approximately 2:42 a.m., police were dispatched to Antonio and Monterrey for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a firearm being discharged in front of a nearby residence. Officers searched the immediate area for shooting victims but none were located.
"While on scene, officers learned several subjects were engaged in a physical altercation outside the residence when one party brandished and discharged a firearm," said Gonzalez. "The male subject reportedly fled the area in a vehicle."
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at the time of this release.
