Since our last update, 34 people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail. Included in that number was Erik Morales, 34, a San Angelo man with a felony record and 17 arrests in Tom Green County.
Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said SAPD officers responded to the 800 block of N. Adams Street in reference to a suspicious person. The man was later identified as Morales.
“The call notes said no one should be at the residence,” said Gonzalez. “Officers arrived and located a red Dodge truck, running but parked in the driveway.”
She said Morales was outside the vehicle nearby on the private property, so officers detained him. They then conducted a safety pat-down on Morales to check for weapons. They located a handgun on his person.
“Police Dispatch conducted a records check of Morales and confirmed he had two prior felony convictions,” said Gonzalez.
She added that during the field investigation, officers observed a small clear baggy with a white crystal substance in plain view on the center arm rest of the truck.
“The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine,” stated Gonzalez. “Officers also located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.”
Gonzalez noted that Morales was charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, Felony 3 Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 and Violation of Parole.
Morales’ bonds for these crimes total $17,500.
Including Morales, 13 people were arrested on new complaints, 19 people on outstanding warrants, and two on both new complaints and warrants.

- Public Intoxication: 3
- DWI: 4
- Possession of Marijuana: 3
- Possession of Controlled Substance: 4
