Feds Lock Up San Angelo Man for 24+ Years for Child Porn

LUBBOCK — A San Angelo man was sentenced Friday by Senior U.S. District Sam R. Cummings to 293 months—or 24 years, 5 months—in federal prison following his guilty plea on child pornography charges.

This sentence was announced yesterday by U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas. This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the San Angelo Police Department, and the Tom Green County (Texas) District Attorney’s Office.

According to documents filed in his case, Nicholas Daniel Glass, 34, of San Angelo, used his cellular telephone and a laptop computer to possess and access images of one or more minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

In July 2015, Glass sent images to persons on the internet depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He also requested and received an image of child pornography from another internet user in the course of his communications.

Glass has been in federal custody since February 2016.  He pleaded guilty in March 2016 to one count of accessing with intent to view child pornography, and one count of transporting child pornography.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Myria Boehm, Norther District of Texas, was in charge of the prosecution.

Glass was arrested in Nov. 2015 by the San Angelo Police Dept. following a domestic dispute call. Glass’ wife told police that the argument between them started when the wife found pictures of naked, underage females on his smartphone. SAPD also stated that Glass’ wife found a text message conversation between her husband and a minor female. She showed the contents of Glass’ smartphone to SAPD investigators.

Glass was found a short time thereafter and brought into custody. Glass has a long string of arrests since 2011, including Assault Causes Bodily Injury in early 2015. Glass was 33 years old when arrested last November. More here.

This investigation was conducted under HSI’s Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators. Since the launch of Operation Predator in 2003, HSI has arrested more than 14,000 individuals for crimes against children, including the production and distribution of online child pornography, traveling overseas for sex with minors, and sex trafficking of children. In fiscal year 2015, nearly 2,400 individuals were arrested by HSI special agents under this initiative and more than 1,000 victims identified or rescued.

I'm glad they finally gave a sex offender some real time. Fed time is about 85% flat. If only we could get the judges in the tom green county judicial system to let them drop and give them some time on the state level too, that would be great. The judges in tom green county cater to sex offenders as if they themselves relate to the deviant crimes. It's a shame. Another rant is that even though Glass deserves everyday he will serve we have a woman running for president who compromised the security of our nation with her email scandal yet she doesn't get so much as a slap on the wrist. Smh. On the bright side Glass is off the street.

Glass doesnt deserve any sort of happiness after all he did to my daugter! Between his drinking, total disregard for any laws, horrible temper, and him thinking its ok to put hands on a woman it was only a matter of time before he ended up in prison even before he was arrested for the pornography!! So yes it is a good thing he is off the streets from every possible view point and it is soldiers like him that give the Army a bad name!
