Around 11:30 p.m. last night, two armed robberies at convenience stores took place on N. Bryant Blvd. and S. Bryant Blvd.
The first robbery took place at a 7-Eleven, 4202 S. Bryant Blvd. The second occurred at the Shell convenience store located at 29th St. and N. Bryant Blvd.
Sgt. Rick Tinsley with the San Angelo Police Department, who was where one suspect was caught,, at Bell St. and Pulliam, stated, “Earlier this evening, we had a report of a robbery at a convenience store on S. Bryant near Ben Ficklin [Road]. A description of the suspect vehicle was given to us, and our officers started looking for that vehicle.”
He added, “One of our young officers actually observed the vehicle on Bell St. and started following it until back-up units could arrive, and a suspect was taken into custody out of the vehicle.”
The suspect’s vehicle was a red Ford F-150 covered with brown mud on the front of the vehicle.
As for the weapon used in both armed robberies, Tinsley said he could not release the details at this time, but he noted, “Like most men in Texas, [the suspect] had a pocket knife on him when we took him out of the truck.”
Sgt. Tinsley also said officers received information the suspect may be headed northbound out of town so they contacted the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and DPS for assistance. Additionally, TABC officers provided support.
Detective Dye, who assessed the crime scenes, added, “[The suspect] was located by patrol officers and taken into custody. Evidence was secured.”
According to Dye, the subject took an undisclosed amount of merchandise and money.
Before the subject was taken into custody, he was assisted at the scene and paramedics were called tend to an injury.
As of now, the investigation is still ongoing, and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
Update: 8:40 a.m.
The suspect who committed the two robberies has been identified as Brandon Wayne ONeil, 34, of Robert Lee. He also goes by Brandon Wayne O'Neil, Brandon Wayne ONeal or Brandon Wayne O'Neal. ONeil is currently being held in the Tom Green County Jail.
This marks ONeil's third arrest. He was previously arrested for theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle. His bond has yet to be set.
SAPD also verified that ONeil used a gun in the robbery.

Great work on the part of San Angelo Police Department for the fast work in apprehending this criminal before he had another chance to rob another store. This felon has a criminal history and now a "parole violation." This ought to get him off the streets for a while! "KUDOS SAPD"
