Yesterday, CBP officers discovered 7 ounces of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a vehicle entering through the Del Rio Port of Entry, according to a press release from the Department of Homeland Security.
Hidden in a container of hand cleaner, officials located the methamphetamine in the cargo area of a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. The estimated value of the drugs is $8,593.
The vehicle was driven by a 33 year-old male. He is a US Citizen from Del Rio and was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for federal prosecution.
Port Director, Alberto D. Perez, credits the success of the search and seizure to the “dedication and professionalism CBP officers put forth on a daily basis.”
The CBP’s Del Rio Port of Entry is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, who work together to combat transnational criminal organizations.
