Abilene Man Arrested After Breaking into Home and Abducting a Woman

At 8:05 a.m. this morning, Abilene Police responded to a possible abduction call at a home located in the 500 block of Apache Lane at Lake Forth Phantom.

According to the caller, a male suspect, Gatlin Hackman, 27, was attempting to get into a home with two female residents inside. The females contacted Police Dispatch when Hackman attempted to gain entry. He did display a weapon once inside the home, and coerced one of the females to go with him.

APD obtained a report of the suspect and vehicle, and soon discovered Hackman at a mobile home in the Hawley area in Jones County a couple of hours after the initial call. He was taken into custody without incident.

Officers also discovered the female victim in the mobile home and took her into protective custody. She did not have any visible injuries.

APD said Hackman is in the Jones County Jail, but he’s being charged with Burglary of a Habitation.
