San Angelo Police Investigate Mother's Day Shooting

 

A San Angelo man, approximately 40 years of age, is receiving treatment at Shannon Medical Center after being shot in the lower body.

Officer Brian Gesch, with the San Angelo Police Department, said officers were dispatched to Windmill Park Apartments, 1929 Rainey Road, for a shooting incident that took place.

“The victim was transported for gunshot wound by personal vehicle to Shannon Medical Center,” said Officer Gesch. “He’s receiving medical treatment at this time.”

Officer Gesch also said Detective Anderson is investigating this ongoing incident, and that information is minimal currently.

However, he did say that the victim is still conscious. He also described the victim as a black male. It’s unclear if he was a resident at the apartments. Additionally, officers, throughout the morning, have been talking to a man in front of the complex. At first, it appeared he was associated with the incident, but Officer Gesch said that wasn’t the case.

“As far as I know right now, that’s a separate incident,” he stated. “He was arrested for disorderly conduct.”

Gesch added that the man was shot in the leg area. There are no suspects, and the weapon hasn’t been located as of yet.

Update 4:30 p.m., May 9

Yesterday, at 10:16 a.m., San Angelo Police responded to the Windmill Apartments at 1929 Raney for a shooting. The victim, a 37 year old male, was already on his way to Shannon Hospital in a private vehicle when officers arrived at the location.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for SAPD, said officers met the victim at the hospital and learned he had a gunshot wound to his lower body. He stated the gunshot was accidental.

Detective Anderson with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to conduct an investigation.  At this time, the shooting is still under investigation and no other information is available for release, said Solsbery.
