According to an official who was out at the scene, this was related to a DPS case. The suspect managed to make it to Oakes Street traveling 100 miles per hour, and headed north. He finally stopped and abandoned the vehicle on Oakes and 16th St, and fled on foot. However, officers quickly caught him at about 6 p.m.

At this time, a San Angelo LIVE! is waiting for additional information and will provide further details once available.

Update 9:30 p.m.

Trooper Justin W. Baker, public information officer for DPS in San Angelo, said two people, Jimmy Jack Porter, 28, and Johnathan Christopher McKay, 24, both of Wink, Texas, were arrested today in the high-speed chase involving a stolen Cadillac Escalade.

Baker said at approximately 5:49 p.m., a DPS trooper initiated a traffic stop on the white Escalade on U.S. 87 near Treece Road for no license plate.

"As the trooper approached the vehicle, it sped away and a pursuit ensued," said Baker. "The suspect stopped the vehicle near 16th Street and Oakes where two suspects evaded on foot."

Baker said a short time later, Porter and McKay were caught and taken into custody without further incident. A preliminary investigation revealed the Escalade was reported stolen out of Winkler County.

Baker added that TGSO deputies also assisted in this incident, and investigations are ongoing.
