The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office apprehended four suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning. The suspects attempted to take the stolen property into Mexico, via Del Rio, Texas.
The following narrative is from a Tom Green County Sheriff’s press release Tuesday morning, Mar. 22.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, United States Customs and Border Protection, Del Rio Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers have made four arrests in connection with an aggravated robbery of the David Rogers Construction Company located at 11005 South U. S. Hwy 67 in Tom Green County, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Tom Green County Deputies responded to a call in reference to the aggravated robbery Saturday, Mar. 19 at approximately 6:00 a.m. The victim, who was staying in a travel trailer located on the property, awoke to find two male subjects in ski masks brandishing weapons entering the trailer. The victim was restrained with duct tape and robbed of personal property. Four oil-field type “gang trucks” containing welder, tools and other assorted items were taken from the business during the robbery.
Early Sunday morning, Mar. 20, Omar Solis, 32, attempted to cross the U. S. / Mexico border in one of the stolen trucks in Del Rio. He was arrested by U. S. Customs and Border Protection for Theft over $20,000.00, a Third Degree Felony, and was remanded to the custody of the Del Rio Police Department.
Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigators traveled to Del Rio, and, with the assistance of the Del Rio Police Department, recovered the additional three stolen vehicles and identify persons of interest connected with the robbery.
Judge Martinez Modesto, 20, and Carlos Zuniga, 23, have been arrested by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers in San Angelo. They are being held for Aggravated Robbery, a First Degree Felony, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, also a First Degree Felony. Elizabeth Estrada, 22, has been arrested and is being held for Organized Criminal Activity.
A Third Degree Felony is punishable by two to 10 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000.00. A First Degree Felony is punishable by five to 99 years, and/or a fine punishable up to $10,000.00.
The Sheriff stated the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
Update: March 23, 5 p.m.
Tom Green County Sheriff officials announced today that a fifth person in connection with the armed robbery that occurred Saturday at David Rogers Construction Company has been taken into custody.
Today, TGCS deputies arrested Charles Leon Walker, 27, for Aggravated Robbery, a first degree felony. TGSO said more arrests are expected.
