Border Patrol Arrested Honduran and Mexican Nationals Convicted of Statutory Rape

According to the release, on March 11, a 26-year-old Honduran national, was apprehended by Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents patrolling the Rio Grande River. During processing, agents discovered that the subject was convicted of two counts of sexual conduct in Hennepin County, Minnesota in 2010. The subject was sentenced to four years incarceration and served three years and was subsequently ordered removed from the U.S. in January 2013. The subject also has prior convictions for burglary and driving under the influence.   

 

Also on March 11, a 21-year-old Mexican national, was apprehended by Carrizo Springs Border Patrol agents patrolling on a local ranch. During processing, agents discovered that the subject was convicted of statutory rape in Atkinson County, Georgia in 2014. The subject was sentenced to one year incarceration and four years probation and was subsequently ordered removed from the U.S. in June 2015. The subject also has prior convictions for theft and possession of tools for commission of a crime.  

 

According to the press release, both subjects face charges of illegal re-entry after deportation – 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, and their prior orders of removal will be reinstated.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
