Fleeing Police, Sniffing Chemicals, Drugs and More Make Crime Report

Since the weekend, a number of local residents made their way to the Tom Green County Jail for a variety of offenses, including the usual of drugs, alcohol, and domestic violence. One man, after engaging in domestic violence, decided to flee police, while another had to be saved by police and medics after inhaling a “volatile chemical.”

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said on Feb. 29, Eric Carrillo, 27, attempted to flee officers after an incident involving his girlfriend. Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of W. 16th St. for the report of a domestic dispute with assault. When the officer arrived, he observed injuries present on a 25-year-old female consistent with an assault.

“The victim advised the officer that she and the suspect, Carrillo, were in a dating relationship, and Carrillo left the residence prior to his arrival,” Gonzalez said. “As the officer spoke with the victim, the officer observed a driver, believed to be Carrillo, operating a brown-colored Honda Civic at night without headlamps.”

At that point, the officer returned to his patrol car, caught up to Carrillo’s vehicle, and attempted to stop it by activating the patrol unit’s lights and sirens. Carrillo failed to stop for several blocks, but eventually stopped in the parking lot at 16th St and Bryant Blvd. Carrillo was detained, and subsequent to the field investigation, arrested for assault, fleeing police, driving with an invalid license and driving without lights.

As for the next offender, James S. Wisdom, 51, didn’t hurt anyone, but rather, himself. Yesterday, at around 7 p.m., officers responded to the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 5501 Sherwood Way for the report of an unconscious person in a vehicle. San Angelo Lake Police and Fire Department medics arrived to assist. Apparently, Wisdom appeared to be intoxicated by the consumption/inhalation of a volatile chemical, which was located on his person.

Wisdom was arrested for the offense and also had an outstanding warrant for forgery.
