U.S. Customer and Border Protection officers at the Del Rio International Bridge seized another success. According to a press release Wednesday, officers discovered more than $200,000 worth of suspected narcotics hidden in a vehicle coming from Mexico on Feb. 18.
On that day, CBP officers working the Del Rio Port of Entry encountered a 1998 Jeep Cherokee as it arrived in the U.S. from Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. During an inspection, these officers discovered a non-factory compartment on the underside of the engine. They seized 10 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and a half-pound of marijuana, a combined value of $203,810.
“The driver, a 45-year-old resident of Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for federal prosecution,” said the release.
Del Rio Port Director Alberto D. Perez said, “We are committed to keeping our communities secure. This seizure is yet another example of the great work and dedication of our frontline CBP officers.”
