On Nov. 11, 2015, the Irion County Sheriff's Office received a call for an unresponsive person in the roadway at the intersection of 4th St. and Fleming Ave in Mertzon. After further investigation, the death has been ruled a homicide, said Sheriff W.A. Estes.
According to Estes, the officers who responded and located the white male found multiple gunshot wounds on the man's body. Officials have identified the man as Roger Allen Fletcher, 50.
At this time, a joint investigation with Irion County Sheriff's Office and Texas Rangers is still underway; however, one person has been arrested in connection with this investigation. Officials took Tina Pauline Chappell, 43, into custody today, Nov. 13.
