DPS Trooper Seizes over $2.7 Million in Heroin

 

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop yesterday on IH-40, yielding over 21 pounds of heroin valued at over $2.7 million dollars.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.

The driver of the Charger was identified as Jessie Beltran, 24, of Thermal, Calif.   During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered nine taped bundles of heroin that were in a backpack located in the trunk of the Charger.

Beltran was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, first degree felony, and booked in to the Carson County Jail.  The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
