Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Agents Apprehend Convicted Murderer

DEL RIO – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station arrested a Mexican national who had been previously convicted of murder.

“Our agents work tirelessly to protect our nation’s borders, and this is just another great example of their efforts,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch. “I commend our agents for their hard work and dedication.”

On Oct. 17, at approximately 3 p.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs station apprehended Marco Antonio Gaytan-Esquivel, 40, a Mexican national off Highway 83 south near Carrizo Springs. During processing at the Carrizo Springs station, agents discovered through criminal record checks that Gaytan-Esquivel was convicted of murder in Georgetown on Oct. 17, 1994 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Immigration checks show that Gaytan-Esquivel was previously deported to Mexico in 2004.

Gaytan-Esquivel faces a charge of - 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.
