SAPD K9 Sends Meth Dealer to Jail

A 29-year-old San Angelo man is facing drug charges after a police service dog located methamphetamine under his seat during a traffic stop in north San Angelo this weekend.

Jamie S. Watson was charged with first-degree manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 after police located approximately 28.35 grams of suspected methamphetamine concealed in a pouch underneath his seat Sunday evening. Police service dog Vader, who conducted a “sniff” of the vehicle, alerted police to the substance that later field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Watson was the front passenger of the vehicle police stopped for a traffic violation. The driver, a 30-year-old San Angelo man, was not charged and was released.

Watson was booked into Tom Green County Jail on the listed charge.  This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is available.
