The alcohol flowed in Tom Green County over the weekend, racking in a total of 23 people jailed for driving while intoxicated, public intoxication and drinking after hours.
The majority of the action occurred as Saturday night rolled into Sunday morning: A total of five people charged with public intoxication and four charged with driving while intoxicated were logged on Sunday, one of those DWIs including 53-year-old Sam D. Dehoyos, jailed on his third or more DWI charge at 1:41 a.m. Three hours later, between 4:30 and 5 a.m., a 23-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were all booked for consuming alcohol after hours in an alcohol-licensed restaurant or bar.
In total, 24 people were jailed on Sunday, while 28 were released.
Saturday was milder when it comes to alcohol. There were four DWIs, three assaults, two thefts, two possession charged and one PI among the 32 jailed. One of those arrested for DWI, 58-year-old Freddie Joe Walton, was accused of driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 or greater. Twenty-seven inmates were released on Saturday.
On Friday the jail saw the most traffic, including 34 booked and 39 released. The bookings again included three DWIs, three thefts, two PIs and two assaults. Thirty-nine inmates were released on Friday.
