Meth User Arrested after Calling Cops on Self

People were after Jonathan Sanchez on Monday night and he didn't know why. That's what he told the police, anyway, when he asked a friend he was talking to on the phone to hand her cell over to an officer at La Esperanza Restaurant.

The girl had called police to the 300 block of E. 19th St on Monday night for an unknown problem, and when officers arrived, they met with the girl and spoke to Sanchez over the phone, who relayed that there were people he didn't know after him making threats. One of the officers then left the restaurant and responded to the Nueva Vista Apartments at 2401 N. Lillie to meet with Sanchez. 

At the apartment complex, Sanchez reiterated his concern that unknown people were after him, and the officer returned to his patrol car to do some research on his computer. As he worked, Sanchez approached from behind and the officer stopped him, asking if he had any weapons on his person. Sanchez, he noted, appeared nervous and jumpy from the incident. Sanchez told the officer he had a box cutter in his pants and, after consenting to a search, the officer patted him down and retrieved the knife. As he did so, two small baggies of methamphetamine fell out of Sanchez's pockets to the ground.

Sanchez was taken to the Tom Green County Jail for possession of methamphetamine. No one was ever located that was either after Sanchez or making threats toward him.
