Two men in their late 30s were arrested on Wednesday after trying to pass forged checks to a teller at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union on 29th St. in San Angelo.
Jonathan Isaac Lucio, 29, and Jacob Aaron Moreno, 27, are accused of entering the bank yesterday afternoon with a $500 check and attempting to cash it in with the teller. The account holder on the check, a 26-year-old female, happened to be in the bank at the same time and was attempting to straighten out another forgery that had taken place the previous day. When bank personnel recognized what was going on, they contacted police.
Both of the men were arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for forgery of a financial instrument. Moreno additionally had two outstanding capias warrants. Police did not confirm on Thursday who had cashed in the first forged check.
In addition to Lucio and Moreno, 23 others were jailed on Wednesday, including three charged with theft, two accused of assault, two charged with terroristic threats and one person apiece charged with public intoxication and marijuana possession.
Twenty-two inmates were released on Wednesday.

These type of people disgust me. Stealing should be met with harsh punishment but they will probably get probation and surprise everyone by stealing again.

PermalinkTwo down - how many more to go, nobody knows. Identity theft is rampant - Kudos to the alert staff of the credit union so these crooks could be arrested. Hopefully, the person whose checks they were trying to cash can get this horrible headache resolved now.
