San Angelo Police have identified the suspect involved in the hit and run crash that recently occurred at Central High School, thanks to tipsters and the suspect turning himself in.
Some anonymous tipsters recognized the vehicle and reported the vehicle’s location to police via the Nixle anonymous tip line and local dispatch. The unlicensed driver, an eighteen-year-old San Angelo man, also called police to turn himself in after learning the surveillance video had been released to the public. The driver was not the vehicle’s registered owner and he did not have the owner’s consent to operate it.
The driver will be charged with Failure to Stop and Leave Information upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle.
The suspect’s name is not being released at this time as charges have not yet been filed.

After the suspect crashed into the SAISD van, he parked in another spot, got out of his truck and entered the dark pickup. A short time later, the suspect got out of the dark pickup, returned to his truck and drove away, followed by the dark pickup. Police believe the trucks’ drivers are acquaintances. [Video Skips] Suspect Vehicle: Tan colored four-door extended cab Ford truck with chrome step rails and red “FX” letters on both sides of the truck’s bed. A red object, possibly a gas can, and several white boxes can be seen inside the truck’s bed. There also appears to be a dark blue or black hooded jacket/sweatshirt draped over the boxes. The truck may have sustained damage to the right front passenger side.Suspect: young Hispanic male, white tank top, black shorts, white cap, and white athletic shoes.Acquaintance: Unknown male wearing a yellow and dark colored two-toned shirt.
