Police Seek Info on Woman Wanted for Robbing Walmart of Car Battery and Hair Products

San Angelo police are looking for a woman who is wanted on an adult probation warrant for robbing the 29th St. Walmart.

Adelaida Martinez, 39, has been on probation since Aug. 13, 2013, when she pled guilty to the second-degree felony robbery charge. According to police, the robbery occurred in January 2013, when at approximately 4 p.m., Martinez entered the Walmart on 29th St. and attempted to leave with unpaid items, including a car battery, a calculator, various hair products and stationary, totaling an estimated $132 in value.

On her way out the door, an asset protection officer attempted to stop Martinez, who responded by pushing and kicking the employee as she attempted to leave. Because of the assault Martinez was charged with robbery, a second-degree felony, as opposed to the Class B Misdemeanor theft charge she would have received had she not resorted to violence.

Martinez was sentenced to five years probation for the robbery, however within five months she had violated and the state filed a motion to revoke (MTR) probation in January 2014. A judge ordered that her probation continue in March 2014, and little over a year later, in April 2015, the state filed another motion to revoke probation due to violations. Martinez is currently being sought on an MTR warrant.

Martinez is 5'5" tall, weighs 190 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. Those with information on Martinez or her whereabouts are urged to contact police with that information, either by calling 1-800-TIPS-247 or by submitting tips online.
