A 71-year-old sex offender on probation has been indicted and jailed for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, after a third victim came forward last November and alleged the man abused her for nearly a year.
Angel Luis Colon, born in 1944, was 63 years old at the time of the alleged abuse and is accused of repeated aggravated sexual assault of a child from Sept. 2, 2007 to Aug. 1, 2008. Because the alleged abuse occurred on more than two occasions and over a period of more than 30 days, he has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 rather than aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony that carries a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
In addition, Colon has been indicted on one count of indecency with a child sexual contact, a second-degree felony, alleged to have taken place on June 1, 2008 and involving the same female child.
Colon was indicted on both charges on July 9 this year, after the victim, now between the ages of 10 and 11, made an outcry of abuse in November 2014, spurring an investigation. She is not, however, Colon’s only victim.
Angel Colon has been on deferred adjudication probation since 2010, when he pled guilty to two counts of indecency with a child sexual contact before Judge Brock Jones.
According to a complaint filed with that case, a girl under the age of 17 reported to forensic interviewer Melody Jeter that Colon had inappropriately touched her on Nov. 7, 2008.
“He said he was sorry for doing it and felt ashamed,” detective John Ford wrote in his report back in 2008.
Also at that time, Colon was accused of inappropriately touching another girl under the age of 17. He was charged with one count of indecency with a child sexual contact for each of the two victims, however entered a plea agreement with 51st District Attorney Allison Palmer on March 17, 2010 and was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication probation for touching the first girl. The second charge was dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
Colon had been on probation for four years and eight months when the third victim came forward in November last year. No motion to revoke probation has yet been filed, however if his probation is revoked, Colon can be sentenced to the full range of punishment for both indecency charges, two to 20 years. In addition, Colon could be sentenced to 25 to 99 years or life for the continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 charge, and two to 20 years for the most recent indecency with a child sexual contact charge.
Colon was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Tuesday and was released on a $50,000 bond the same day. As a condition of his bond, he is not permitted to have contact with his victim.

Last name for this upstanding citizen. I hope your last name directly coincides with your fellow inmates wish list :) Don't worry though Mr. Colon....As you've seen firsthand already, you'll only be victimized for a year or less thanks to overcrowding and lack of conviction on the part of our wonderful judicial system. You'll be free to continue your reign of terror on children very soon. Sad that you are so lacking (either physically or mentally) that you can only be gratified by abusing a child.
