San Angelo police are investigating a downtown shooting that left a man hospitalized early Tuesday morning.
According to a press release issued by the department, San Angelo police responded to the area of S. Chadbourne and Twohig at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of recent gunfire. While investigating the scene, dispatch received a call from Shannon Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim.
Officers responded to Shannon Hospital and made contact with the victim, identified as 23-year-old Paul Garcia. Garcia related to police that he had been approached by two unknown Hispanic males armed with handguns, who had accused him of stealing some property. Garcia was able to run away from the suspects, who fired multiple rounds in Garcia’s direction. He sustained a gunshot wound to his arm during his flight. July 13 was Garcia's birthday. Garcia was transported to Shannon Hospital by private vehicle where he was treated for his injuries.
