A full response was ordered at Goodfellow Air Force Base after a suspicious substance was discovered in a mail package at the Goodfellow AFB post office.
According to the 17th Training Wing Public Affairs, and unknown substance was discovered at around 10 a.m. Monday morning in a package in the mail at the post office. The 17th Security Forces and Goodfellow AFB fire department responded using existing protocol for incidents like this, Goodfellow AFB’s spokesman said. A notice to all base personnel was issued informing all to avoid the post office area.
The unknown substance was later confirmed to be just sand.
“Safety is always our first priority,” Goodfellow AFB PA said in a phone interview.
After the substance was confirmed to be just sand, operations returned to normal at the post office.
