DPS Seizes $1.5 Million in Meth

 

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Wednesday on IH-40, yielding over 18 pounds of methamphetamine valued at over $1.5 million.

At approximately 9:07 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.

The driver of the Suburban was identified as Miguel A. Abreu, 35, of Lawrenceville, Ga. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 16 bundles of methamphetamine in the rear quarter panel.

Abreu was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Pamona, Calif., to Atlanta.
