One-fourth of the 82 men and women put behind bars over the holiday weekend had allegedly had a bit too much to drink.
Twenty-one individuals total were booked on alcohol-related offenses between July 3 and 5, beginning on Friday with three jailed for driving while intoxicated, two for minor in possession of alcohol, one minor for driving under the influence, one minor in consumption of alcohol and one charged with public intoxication. Thirty-seven inmates were booked in total on Friday, which also included two charged with possession, two with marijuana, two with assault and one charged with two counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Twenty-one inmates were released on Friday.
On Saturday, July 4, the leading charge was public intoxication, accounting for six of 26 total bookings. Other jailings included two charged with boating while intoxicated, one DWI and one person apiece charged with assault, possession, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and second-degree burglary. Twenty-seven individuals were released on Saturday.
Bookings slowed to 19 on Sunday and included two jailed for driving while intoxicated, two charged with pot possession, one accused of driving under the influence and one person apiece charged with assault, terroristic threat against a public servant, public intoxication and an Odessa man picked up on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Fifteen were released on Sunday.
