The jail population this weekend swelled with an influx of inmates, as local law enforcement officials began the annual warrant roundup. Between Friday and Sunday, 114 men and women were put behind bars, while a little under half that number, 74, were released.
Friday marked the official start of warrant roundup, when 32 were jailed on a mix of warrants and offenses alleged to have been committed that day. Of the current offenses, four were arrested for marijuana possession, two for possession of a controlled substance, and one apiece for DWI and PI. Twenty-two individuals were released on Friday.
On Saturday, bookings jumped to 50 individuals, several of which were jailed on offenses alleged to have been committed that day. Of those arrested on complaints rather than warrants, four were booked for public intoxication, three for DWI, three for assault and two for possession. One person apiece was additionally jailed for marijuana possession, exhibition of acceleration and disorderly conduct. Twenty-five inmates were released on Saturday.
Drugs and alcohol remained popular choices for those jailed on complaints on Sunday, including five booked for possession of a controlled substance, three for public intoxication, and one apiece for DWI, DUI and marijuana. Additionally, another three were booked for theft, while one apiece was jailed for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. Thirty-two individuals were booked on Sunday, while 27 were released.
