54-Year-Old Accused of Choking Young Girl

There were two witnesses present when 54-year-old Jesus Javier Mier is reported to have wrapped his hands around a teenage girl's throat and squeezed.

According to a complaint composed by Tom Green County sheriff's investigator Martha Ibarra, Mier became physical with the girl at a residence in the county on April 12, when between 8:10 and 8:40 p.m., he struck her and pushed her onto a bed, then slid onto the floor straddling her as he placed his hands around her throat.

The girl, the complaint states, feared for her life as he forced the side of her face into the floor, then felt limp and blacked out. A witness said her face turned bluish-purple. She is 14 years old or younger, the complaint states.

Mier, who was picked up on a warrant for injury to a child causing bodily injury on Tuesday, confirmed that he did apply pressure to the victim's face and throat with his right hand and thumb, the complaint states. He has been charged with a third-degree felony and was released after posting at $30,000 bond Wednesday morning with the condition that he have no contact with the victim.

A third-degree felony is punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Also jailed on Tuesday were four booked for charges alleged to have been committed within the last 24 hours. Those charges included two people jailed for public intoxication, one for DWI and one for marijuana possession.

Additional warrant arrests included those for assault, public intoxication, theft, car theft and a motion to revoke probation on a manufacture/delivery charge.

In total, 25 individuals were booked on Tuesday, while 23 were released.
