Gunfire Incidents Reported All Over San Angelo Early Sunday Morning

The loud report of gunfire echoed through San Angelo’s streets on Saturday, accounting for at least eight different emergency calls following an armed robbery, a domestic disturbance and a late-night teen party on the north side of town. In all, seven incidents of gunfire were reported throughout San Angelo early Sunday morning.

Officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to several locations all over town between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday and, with little information provided by victims and witnesses, are looking for a black two-door car seen at one or more of the shootings.

The calls started into San Angelo’s dispatch at around 12:07 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Howard St., where the driver of a white truck was reportedly robbed at gunpoint by a man driving a black four-door car in the Stripes parking lot, SAPD Public Information Sergeant Cade Solsbery explained.

According to witnesses, the driver of the black vehicle got out of the car and approached the truck, demanding property and drawing a weapon. Afterward, the driver then got back in the black car and took off, with the white truck following.

Witnesses at Stripes heard gunshots soon after, and at 12:09 a.m. dispatch received a call reporting shots fired roughly half a mile away in the 2200 block of Wilson St. At 12:13 a.m., another call came in reporting shots fired in the 1800 block of Lindell Ave., approximately a third of a mile from the starting point of the robbery on Howard St.

Sgt. Solsbery explained that the calls on Lindell and Wilson are believed to be connected to the robbery. A witness at Stripes reported hearing the gunfire shortly after the two vehicles left, but did not see the shots being fired.

Shortly thereafter, Solsbery explained, as officers investigated the robbery, dispatch received an anonymous call on the whereabouts of the victim, in the 2000 block of Juanita.

Rather than provide responding officers with information on the robbery and shooting, however, he stated that he didn’t want to talk about it and would not give a name or description of the suspect.

Solsbery said the victim reported that the situation had “escalated over nothing” and that shots were fired because they were “too scared to fight”.  A bullet hole was found in the bed of the truck on the driver’s side, however no bullet casings were located, nor was any information on the shooter provided.

Thirty minutes later, at approximately 12:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Ave. X, where a man and a woman had been involved in a domestic disturbance outside a residence.

Witnesses heard the couple fighting and went outside, when a gray passenger car appeared and started driving toward the quarreling couple. The driver then fired a single shot in the air and left headed toward Foster Road.

An officer located the suspect vehicle on Knickerbocker shortly thereafter and followed him down the loop until toward Arden Road, waiting for backup before initiating a traffic stop.

Once a backup officer arrived, the officer pulled the driver over in the 200 block of Oxford, and located a shotgun and a spent shell casing in the vehicle. Witnesses on scene described the gun’s report as coming from a shotgun. The driver, 24-year-old Zachary Alexander Revira, was transported to the county jail and booked for discharging a firearm within city limits. He is believed to know one of those inolved in the domestic dispute.

Another 30 minutes later, at approximately 1:15 a.m., a parent returned home in the 2100 block of N. Poe to find their 17-year-old child throwing a large teen party. As the parent began to break the party up and send the kids home, several shots were fired in the street.

Two calls were made into dispatch thereafter, one report in the 2100 block of N. Poe and the next at Poe and E. 22^nd St. When officers arrived, there were not bullets or spent casings found and no one had witnessed the gunfire. No suspect information was provided at the scene or thereafter.

Shortly after the party was broken up on Poe, police received another shots fired report on the east side of town at approximately 1:45 a.m.

Responding officers learned that several people, who had been living in a trailer behind a residence in the 1500 block of Mission St., had become engrossed in an altercation when things turned hostile.

At some point one of the occupants fired a single round off in the trailer, leaving a hole in the floor. Again, no one seemed to know who had fired the shot or where that person had gone, and no suspect information was collected. Several of those present were arrested on outstanding warrants.

An hour later, at approximately 2:41 a.m., a large fight broke out at a sizable party at Angelo Place apartments, outside of building 2. Sergeant Solsbery explained that unknown subjects in a black two-door car fired several rounds into the air. Witnesses on scene saw the vehicle and the shots being fired, however could not provide a description of the subjects and again, no bullet casings were found.

Later on Saturday morning, at approximately 5:10 a.m., a black two-door car became the subject of another call into dispatch, when gunfire was reported at 12^th and Magdalen streets.

Witnesses at the location stated they saw a black two-door vehicle, but could not identify or provide a description of the suspect. Again, no shell casings were found.

Due to the limited amount of information provided by witnesses and victims, suspects have not been developed in any of these incidents, however police are looking for the black car, Sgt. Solsbery said.

No one was injured in any of the gunfire on Sunday morning, and the majority of the rounds were fired in the air.
